This two-day online course will provide a comprehensive review of the radiological assessment and management of minor injuries in the Emergency Department, Minor Injury Units (MIU) and Urgent Treatment Centres (UTC)

Delivered by experts from Radiology, Orthopaedics and Emergency Medicine, this novel course will first look at how to interpret x-rays for each body area to identify bony and soft tissue pathology. The course will then cover the urgent and emergency management of the injuries: what to refer urgently, what to refer to clinic, and what to discharge with advice.

Aimed at Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Allied Healthcare Practitioners, Emergency Physicians, Acute Paediatricians and GPs who treat adult and paediatric patients in Emergency Departments, Minor Injuries Units and Urgent Treatment Centres.

The course will cover all common paediatric and adult injuries in an interactive lecture format with polls and Q&A.

The course aims to improve clinicians’ confidence in dealing with common presentations and to provide an update regarding recent advances in management of minor injuries and fractures.

Phillipp Reade

Dr Phillipp Riede

Dr Philipp Riede is a consultant musculoskeletal radiologist at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust having been appointed in 2019. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Oxford before training in clinical radiology, both in Oxford and Cambridge followed by a MSK Radiology Fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

Yasmin Sultan

Dr Yasmin Sultan
Consultant Emergency Medicine, Cambridge University Hospital NHS Trust

Dr Yasmin Sultan is consultant Emergency Medicine at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, with a past life as both Physician and GP. As such she has an interest in minor injuries and illnesses presenting to urgent and emergency care.

She enjoys teaching and is a Section Editor for the RCEM eLearning website, RCEMlearning.

Hasan Fawi

Mr Hassan T Fawi

Mr Hassan Fawi is a senior higher trainee in Trauma and Orthopaedics in East of England Deanery. He is currently doing PhD at Imperial College London. He frequently does minor shifts in Cambridge University Hospital Emergency Department which gives him good working knowledge regarding the link between ED and T&O department.

Dr Rajeev Madan
Consultant Emergency Medicine, Cambridge University Hospital NHS Trust

Dr Rajeev Madan is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at the Cambridge University Hospital.  Dr Madan has done MD radiology from India and has expertise in radiology and point of care ultrasound. He is also ultrasound TPD for East of England region.

Dr Vazeer Ahmed
Consultant Emergency Medicine, Cambridge University Hospital NHS trust

Dr Vazeer Ahmed FRCEM MRCP is an EM Consultant at Cambridge University (CUH) NHS Trust and is also the Urgent & Emergency (UEC) lead for Cambridge and Peterborough ICS. Vaz completed his training in EM in East of England and started as a Consultant at CUH in 2008. He was the Clinical Director of CUH ED & Trauma Centre until 2017. Vaz has completed a Fellowship in Leadership and received the Nye Bevan leadership award. He is passionate about teaching and has been directing the Simulation in Airway & Ventilation in Emergency (SAVE) course for the last 12 years.
